Who We Are

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley in Montana is a non-profit organization working with diverse faith organizations as the only year round shelter program in Gallatin Valley for families with children experiencing homelessness. Family Promise provides shelter and much more while each family works with our case managers to find and implement lasting solutions to their unique situation.

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley is an affiliate of the national Family Promise program based out of Summit, New Jersey. FPGV is over 80% successful in getting families into stable housing and effective employment!

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or religion. Although we are a faith-based program, we believe in putting our faith into action, not words. Guests need not attend any religious activities to receive services. All volunteers are required to complete a free leadership training before any direct guest service.

Our Mission We empower homeless families with children to achieve self-sufficiency through partnerships, services, and advocacy.

Our Vision Ending homelessness in the Gallatin Valley, one family at a time.

What We Do

Family Promise has recently changed its shelter model from a rotational shelter where families would pack up and move to a different congregation each week to a new static shelter model. In our static shelter, our guests have a room for their whole family to sleep in and they share the rest of the shelter space including kitchen, bathrooms, living room and laundry with the other families staying at the shelter location.

There are many oppurtunities for volunteering with Family Promise. From helping a family move from shelter into their new home, gardening or yard work at our shelter or transitional housing locations, repairing our properies, putting together “Welcome Home” baskets, helping a kid out with homework or a parent out with housing applications there is so much community to be built around the guests of Family Promise and we love our volunteers!

Cost Effective

The Family Promise model of care costs 1/3 less to operate than traditional shelters. Through the generosity and dedication of our volunteers and local host congregations, every dollar donated is matched by more than $3 of in-kind goods and services!
