Who We Are

In April and October of every year Intermountain Opera Bozeman (IOB) produces a fully staged opera. Professional singers are hired from around the world to fill the lead roles. These guest artists share their experience and talent not only with the local artists and volunteers working on the opera, but with local youth and general public through outreach events in the schools and community workshops. IOB has expanded its offerings to include a performance at the Sweet Pea Festival in August and a musical in February. Producing an opera requires an incredible amount of labor. Volunteers are vital to IOB’s ability to produce an opera. There are numerous avenues of volunteering. These are some of the areas that IOB utilizes volunteers; costumes, props, stage help, hair and make-up, box office, rush ticket sales, ushers, and office assistance. Help is needed for about 4-6 weeks leading up to each of our productions

What We Do

The mission of the Intermountain Opera Association of Bozeman, established in 1979, is to promote and share the joy of opera in Montana and surrounding areas by providing affordable, high quality opera performances to audience members of all ages, and to provide educational outreach to area schools and communities.
