Who We Are
Mission: The mission of Befrienders is to connect community volunteers to older adults for companionship, support, and advocacy.
Befrienders is a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides companionship, support, and advocacy for the senior population throughout Gallatin Valley. We match community volunteers with seniors who have limited social interaction and are lonely.
Befrienders strives to reduce social isolation among vulnerable seniors. By providing regular companionship, we improve the quality of life of our seniors — socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively.
What We Do
Befrienders Program
Commit just one hour a week for a year and build a lasting friendship with a senior! Many seniors face limited social interaction due to life transitions, physical limitations, or other circumstances. Befrienders pairs volunteers with seniors for weekly visits, whether it’s sharing a meal, playing games, taking a walk, or simply enjoying good conversation. These connections bring joy, companionship, and a meaningful impact to both the volunteer and the senior.
Lend a Hand Program
Looking for a flexible way to support seniors? Lend A Hand offers one-time (or sometimes recurring) opportunities to assist with specific tasks that help seniors remain independent in their homes. Volunteers can choose from a variety of needs, including:
- Technology Assistance (help with phones, tablets, remotes, etc.)
- Household Needs (leaky faucets, rearranging furniture, minor repairs)
- Seasonal Support (snow shoveling, yard work, raking leaves)
You pick the task and set it up at a time that works for you!
