Some people might think volunteering is for young people. Others might think it's for retirees. The truth is there is no "right age". Volunteering is about giving your time and talents to those who can use them no matter what your stage in life. It's not about having spare time with nothing to do, it's about making time to help others while also doing something rewarding for yourself.
The Corporation on National & Community Service, completed a study in 2015 on Volunteering & Civic Life in America. You can look at the data for every state and in Montana the ages breakout evenly across the various ranges, just slightly higher in the 45-54 range. See more on Montana Volunteer Data here.
Whenever you get the feeling it's time to lend a hand in our community, that's the right time for you to start to volunteer. If you're not sure where to start, you can browse the agencies on VolunteerMT.org to see what types of causes you might be interested in. Or, if you have a specific talent to share you can search by skills such as marketing or accounting. And, if you aren't finding what you're looking for, reach out to me. I'll help you find a good connection.
