Big Sky Youth Empowerment (BYEP) is a nonprofit adventure-based mentoring program in Bozeman, Montana, that has served vulnerable youth in the Gallatin Valley for the past 25 years. BYEP offers a group social emotional life skills curriculum paired with outdoor adventures to youth in grades 7-12, with a capacity to serve up to 132 youth. BYEP was founded in 2001 by Pete MacFadyen with the intent of providing a creative solution to the lack of effective programming for teens.BYEP’s mission is to create a transformative community where vulnerable teenagers experience belonging, purpose, and well-being through group mentorship, adventure, and connection with the natural world.
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Administrative Volunteer to support our Development team. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys organized, computer-based work and wants to meaningfully contribute to an essential community program behind the scenes. The Administrative Volunteer plays an important role in helping ensure our systems run smoothly, allowing our development staff to focus more fully on fundraising efforts. This position prioritizes consistency and care over speed or volume. BYEP understands and respects personal schedules, travel, and life commitments; we are simply seeking someone who can reliably contribute a couple hours each week. Key Job Responsibilities Support accurate data entry and record maintenance in BYEP’s Salesforce database Assist with administrative tasks related to fundraising, grants, and donor stewardship Help organize and maintain digital files and documentation Collaborate with Development staff to ensure information is complete and up-to-date Complete tasks independently while meeting agreed-upon timelines Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information Schedule Approximately 2-5 hours per week Minimum 4-month commitment preferred to ensure continuity Preference would be to coordinate a regular schedule within the hours of Monday-Thursday, 10am-5pm, with flexibility as needed. Qualifications Strong attention to detail and organization Comfort working with computers and basic software systems Reliability, follow-through, and clear communication Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Interest in supporting youth and community-based nonprofit work Prior office, administrative, or data-related experience Familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, or CRM systems (training provided as needed, the work is not highly technical) Appreciation for steady, behind-the-scenes work that supports a larger mission Compensation This is an unpaid volunteer position. While BYEP is unable to offer financial compensation, we deeply value the time, care, and expertise our volunteers bring to the organization.
