Being a volunteer survivor advocate includes many of the most essential direct service duties including:
- Working 1-on-1 with shelter participants by giving referrals, safety planning, and being a safe person to talk to on a consistent basis
- Occasionally opening and closing shelter
- Running household errands (buying toilet paper, detergent, kitchen supplies, etc)
- Helping distribute donations to participants
Requirements:
- Complete 1 days of training plus shadow shifts
- Complete a background check
- A minimum of one, two-hour shift per month
