We helped over 1,600 kids in 2017 and almost 600 families. That takes a lot of volunteer hours.
December 14th, 15th and 17th we have hundreds of parents come in and shop for their kids. Each family is paired with a volunteer to help assist them in shopping. The shopping assistants (volunteer) lead them to the area that is appropriate, hold their shopping bag (large black trash bag) and help them make gift choices. During this time we have other volunteers restocking tables with toys from the back room.
December 20st we'll be packing up the left over toys, take down the tables and decorations and put them back into storage.
Being able to be on your feet, moving around and carrying toys for your shift is a requirement of volunteering. Shifts are generally 4 to 5 hours. Shopping shifts are 5 hours long. In order to get as many families through as we do, we really need you to be able to work the entire shift you signed up for. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.
